Thousands Greet Oden
posted: 6/29/2007 at 10:25 PM

I have to admit that Wednesday night I didn't get much sleep. Even though I had nothing to do with the draft, there was just so much energy in the air I couldn't shut off my little pea brain. I thought that would be better on Thursday night, after the draft, but it wasn't. We had done a 7 and a-half hour radio show and I was too fired up to sleep much. It reminded me of broadcasting an early-season game on TV. I never sleep much following those games, especially when we're on the road and check into a hotel late at night. This, of course, was different. I just stared at the ceiling most of the night thinking about all the changes, and all the possibilities.
Friday morning started with a big staff meeting at the Blazers offices. We welcomed Greg Oden to the office with a huge round of applause, and he addressed all the Blazer employees. We showed him video clips of the fans rushing the court at the Rose Garden after he was selected, and he just shook his head, smiling in disbelief. He's truly enjoying all of this, and doesn't appear to be worn down at all. He has to be, but he doesn't show it.
We then walked, in the rain, to the transit station near the Rose Garden, and rode MAX to Pioneer Courthouse Square. It was great to hop aboard the train and watch the faces of the people who weren't aware that Oden was about to ride downtown with them. He signed some autographs, took photos with fans, and shook hands.
When we arrived at the square, I followed Greg out the door and straight through a line of people right on to the stage. I expected to see a lot of Blazer fans, and for it to be an exciting scene. I was not ready for what it was truly like. Thousands of Blazer fans roared when Oden walked on to the stage, and I did my best to introduce him, interview him, and stay out of the way. It felt like a rock concert, only we were on stage and only had one microphone. It was very unscripted, and I did my best to introduce all involved, and Oden made it very easy for me. He's such a natural at this stuff. You forget he's just 19.
At one point, during the celebration, Kevin Pritchard leaned over to me and said, "can you imagine what it will be like when we win a championship?" We were in awe of the crowd and the enthusiasm. If you were there, you know what I'm talking about. It was one of the more memorable moments I've had in my 8 years with this franchise. I'd probably rank it number one, just behind the scene at the draft lottery party when we learned we'd be getting Oden.
After the party downtown, we went to the Blazers practice faciility in Tualatin. Greg went back into the player's lounge, had lunch, and stretched out on a big couch. He's still battling a cold, and said he only slept about 90 minutes Thursday night, as he was flying from New York to Portland.
I did record one final one-on-one interview with Oden, in the weight room, just recapping all the events. He said he's excited, relieved, tired, and is ready to play some ball. (they'll be posting that interview soon at
Draft Central on this site. He'll get that chance on Sunday when the Blazers summer league team starts practice. Oden isn't going home, at least not for a while. He's going to practice with the team, and go to Las Vegas with us on Thursday. After summer league ends, he'll have the mini-camp with Team USA, which is also in Vegas. Then perhaps, he'll get a chance to sit down for a while.
I've never enjoyed doing this blog more than I have the last couple of weeks. Your participation is what makes is so special. Hearing your opinions, your discussions, and your stories about "where you were when" has been great. Blazer fan Steve says he was listening to the draft show on-line in Indonesia. Stuff like that is so great to hear Steve. Thanks for sharing that.
Many of you have asked for a summer league roster. Here it is, complete with numbers.
#0 Taurean Green
#2 Josh McRoberts
#6 Stefano Mancinelli
#8 Martell Webster
#11 Sergio Rodriguez
#12 LaMarcus Aldridge
#18 Rick Apodaca
#31 Zendon Hamilton
#41 Joel Freeland
#42 Mo Charlo
#52 Greg Oden
That's a pretty impressive roster. I should mention that Brandon Roy will be there, but won't play. He's actually been begging to play, but KP and Nate want him to just relax and take some time off. He doesn't even have to be there if he doesn't want. But, reportedly has said he wouldn't miss it for the world. That's Roy for you.
As you comment on this blog, I want your ideas for nicknames for Oden. I've heard some mentioned, but haven't really like what we have come up with. Or, are you satisfied with him not having one at all? That's fine too. McMillan mentioned at the rally today that we needed to figure one out, and I'll pass along the good ones to the coach.
Thanks for being so involved.
Here are a couple of very cool videos you fans shot and posted on YouTube. The first is of the
actual pick taking place at the garden. This one is of the
rally in downtown Portland on Friday. I'll post some of our video, from the stage, when I get links.
Gred Oden's nickname:
"THE GENERAL"
MB
At the draft party , I saw a sign someone made for oden that sai somthing like - Portland is X-plODEN for ODEN...So I think a great nick name for him is explODEN-ODENE!
Well he is the "GODEN CHILD" of course!
Hey Mike,
Great work last night. You gotta be lovin' your job right now.
I think Oden's name already is short and fun to say. He may not need a nickname, but I can hear the announcer or Wheels stretching out the "O" sound saying OOOOOOOOden. But, how about naming some moves after him. Like an O-Dunk or O-Hook or O-Slam or O-Swish? I just think his last name sounds great as it is.
Steve (Bend)
C.B. (composit beater), because thats pretty much what he will be doin right? beatin guys shots up all day off the glass and of course composite leather is what the ball is made of. Here is to alot of mello and kobe's bleep gettin beat up and of course tim's! G.O. BLAZERS
Hey MB,
First time poster, long time fan of the Blazers and your work (I still have old VHS tapes from when you used to do the McDonalds Home Court Pregame Show)
I live in LaLa land and everyone here is saying "Portland is the new powerhouse now." They also are wanting to get rid of Kobe. Never thought I would see the day the Laker fans bow to Portland.
Things are changing in the West and I am glad you can keep me updated to what life is like back in Portland. I read it everyday and I wanted to thank you for your real, honest and fun to read blogging. Cant wait for the summer league :D
Hey Mike!
I was on the MAX with Greg Oden and the Blazers staffs today. IT was so nice to see Greg Oden in person! I love that moment when that lady came to shake Oden's hand, to show Oden how excited we are for him.
I was standing near KP, Nate and President Larry Miller, so I couldn't shake hand with Oden. I'm sure that I"ll see him more at the rose garden.
Here is my video on the Max: http://youtube.com/watch?v=STbBvFGI5JM
I absolutely love you blogs, Mike. Keeping us informed almost daily on what's happening means a lot to us fans. We know most teams don't have people dedicated as you are. You've blogged through thick and thin and were always there to inform us on the happenings.
I had to work so I couldn't make it to the Oden celebration downtown (should have called in sick). I did catch the News and saw clips from the celebration and it sure did look amazing.
I'm no good at coming up with nicknames so I'll leave that for everyone else. Although I really like "Manchild". I can't wait for Summer League to start!
I don't know about his own nickname, but I know it's not going to take too many games before we start calling it O's Garden.
Ahhh I can breath now. Thank you kp you are my hereo. Oden will dominate this league sooner rather then later. I mean whos going to stop him? kwame brown :) Cant wait to see him play with both his hands at 100% I might be going out on a limb here but I think he has a chance to be the best center of all time. I say that because I never seen anything like him. I have never seen a 7 foot center run as fast and jump as high as oden. He has a pretty good handle too, better then any center ive seen. People compare him to other centers like robinson, russell, duncan. I personally think he is way more athletic then any of those guys and its not even close. I guess time will tell but man theres no ceiling on this guy. As for the randolph trade kp eventually prolly could of gotten a little more for him but the bottom line was he had to go asap! You dont want him near oden, thats for sure. Yeah you lose some offense but you get a whole lot more defense in return, which leads to fast breaks. If this team stays healthy next year look out. I see at least a 5 or 6 seed. P.S WE ARE ONE BIG 3 GUARD SPLASH AWAY FROM COMPETING WITH THE SPURS.
OH YEAH I FORGOT, KP DUMP FRANCIS HE IS A CANCER IN A LOCKER ROOM. IM SURE YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS THOUGH.
I like Kevin Pritchard's "The Caretaker"
First, Mike, I just want to say that no one is better at their job than you. You really are a star, but you don't act like you think you are. Your passion for the Blazers is obvious, but you're objective at the same time. I really appreciate what you bring to the Odenization - er - organization. Keep up the great work.
As far as nicknames for Greg, how about 'BabyFace'? It's kinda growing on me. I've always been a sucker for irony. (However, if this term bothers Greg, I will deny any involvement. lol)
Also, just a thought, when Oden has an especially monstrous block, we could have a sound-byte of a newscaster saying 'the Shooter has just been Odentified'. A bit of a stretch? Oh well, I tried.
Thanks again, Mike. Take care and God bless.
In the spirit of friendly competition I have to reply to Uproar's comment in yesterday's post that Rhode Island was about as far away as a Blazer fan could be. I listened to Courtside Draft Coverage live from the Rose Garden on Friday morning beginning at 5am from...East Java Indonesia.
That truly might be, geographically speaking, about as far away as you can get. But I'm willing to concede to anyone who might be paying attention from an even more remote location. Anyone???
And a nickname...hmmm...I'll get back on that one.
Hey Mike, thanks for all your hard work. for Oden's nickname it kinda like "The Freak Of Nature". Im not sure if Roy has a nickname but i always call him "Mr. Clutch". why isnt channing frye on the summer league roster? its only his third year just like webster. does he not need the extra work? im very excited about our picks. besides Oden im most looking forward to seeing Mcroberts and Green. Fernandez also looks pretty good. i wonder what the next moves are that KP has up his sleeve. cant wait for the summer league to start. GO BLAZERS!!
My entry for G.O.'s nickname: "The Omen"
i like adam's nickname idean, cept how bout we expand on it and make it Greg "About to be EXPL" Oden.
I'm all for the nickname "the Freak of Nature" Thats what Oden is!!!!
Get rid of Francis he's only cancer and we don't need him.
Mike what are our chances of getting Marion from phx!!! Could you imagine Oden or ald getting a block and kicking it out to roy on a fast break then a lob to Marion. Marion is the first one back on def and the first one on off. He would be perfect for the blazers. do what it takes to get him!!!!! We were horrible at fast breaks last year, and adding Marion to the team that we now have would be amazing.
Life long blazer fan!!!! Go blazers!!!!!!!
DENO -- does DENO conjure images of a T-Rex looming large, bearing down the court, tearing down the rim...
After reading this...
"Just ran into Greg Oden and Josh McRoberts in Tualatin...
Current mood: giddy
Category: Sports
...and I kid you not, they were running towards each other doing one of those cheesy, slow-motion, arms-outstretched, goofy hugs like in the movies. At first I'm like, "This is obviously a hallucination due to the extreme case of Blazermania I've been living with." But no, this was for real and I stopped and talked with them for a sec. Oden said, "I'm Josh McRoberts and he's Greg Oden." :)..."
http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendID=17639378&blogID=282311155
Greg "The Joker" Oden
I have a name for Greg,
"The Big O". Why not? Nicknamed after my favorite restaurant in Corvallis... both are long lasting winners with good taste!!
I think I got it. Before, I said 'BabyFace', but now, I'm leaning toward 'Greg O-mighty'. That really has a nice ring to it, plus a connection to pop culture. If it sticks, I should get to watch some SpongeBob with him!!!!!!!!
Haven't heard much mentioned about Josh McRoberts, but I really like his fit on this team. He is from a winning program. On his inside shot he protects the ball well. He either makes the shot or gets fouled. And, outside he can hit the jump shot. Teams will try to crowd the middle against Oden and Allridge so a player who can hit 10-15 footers will really help.
His shot is very soft too, so a miss doesn't go way down court - it falls into Oden or Allridges hands.
Oden (or Odin) is the king of all Norse Gods.
How about, "King" Oden for a nickname?
I like the Exploden Oden idea the most. In my opinion, he doesn't really need a nickname that he is going to be called by more than his actual name. But it would be cool for him to have one anyway. I didn't make it on Friday but I was at the party Thursday and I was one of the first to run out on the court. After about the first five picks I went to the Suite Level and sat in front of you guys. I shook your hand after it was over. I’m going to state again that it's really nice to have all of this inside information.
Boston's Parish was known as "The Chief." David Robinson was "The Admiral" because of his Navy service. It's hard to come up with a personal association that would lend a nickname for Greg Oden, but depending on what kind of humor Blazer fans can tolerate in regards to their most recent past, perhaps he could be "The Warden."
When Oden goes off on the opposition, he'll be "unl-oden" on them?
KP, Now it's time to go bring Blake back! And resign Udoka!!
Honka once for Koponen.
Get it......Honka.......fine.
MB, I would love to hear or read interviews with Blazer players about their feelings of this coming season.
thanks
KP, How 'bout this.....sign and trade MaGloire to Sea. with T. Green for Rashard (sign & trade)?? They could use a big cant they??
How about the "Keeper of the Key" or "Key Keeper" considering Oden's mythological background of questing for the key to all knowledge and his future position as one of our trailblazers who will protect the key. Or of course we could just call him Mr. Oregon and people might actually learn how to pronounce it =P.
I'll have to agree with some of the previous suggestions of 'Big O'. But I'm fine with Greg, too.. I don't really like it when a nickname just has to be manufactured - it's a little unnatural.
Also - A question for you MB:
Where is Channing gonna fit in? Will he be LA's backup at the 4? Or can he come in and start at the 3? or is that not a natural position for him?
Adding to my last post - an 'O' is really marketable.. his logo for nike could just be a big O.. kind of like Lebrons LB logo. Just a thought.
Since everyone wants to be the big train, the big guy or the big diesal, how baout we just call Oden "the big" let his play speak for the rest. He will be the best big in the league for years to come so when your talking about bigs he would naturally be "the big".
MB you do great work keep it up.
And what else can we say about R.O.Y. He was equally as important as drafting Oden for us if you ask me. And things like what he is gonna do this summer prove it.
Mike, have been a fan since 70. was there for the 1st and WE will see some more. I live in vegas so I am excited to see them here. A nick name "Odenator".
There is a ancient mythological god named Oden. It meant "inspiration, rage, frenzy". In Norse mythology Odin was the highest of the gods, presiding over art, war, wisdom and death.
I think the nickname needs to be
Greg "The God of War" Oden
Greg BIG FOOT Oden
Greg BIG FOOT Oden
Big"O" is already linked to hall of fame member Oscar Robertson and to a local tire store.
The whole Odin norse god theme could play well with the nickname "Thor". Oden rejecting shots like Thor throwing down bolts of lightning and hammering players invading the paint.
I like "BIG FOOT" better though and if the Sonics leave Seattle maybe we can grab Squatch and send Blaze to Oklahoma or KC.
I have never felt as much excitement for the Blazers as since the championship of 1977. I am impressed with Greg Oden as much with his off the court presence as with his talents. Thanks also to the Blazer organization for bring Greg's family out to the rally.
as for a nickname i am thinking the "O train" kinda a spin off of "Shaq Diesel". and "O Train" would fit with all the fast breaks we will get, and he is fast enough and powerfull enough to lead the fastbreak train and do the Big O DunkO lol.
and mike, you are real good for this site, giving all us fans some interaction with this, The Blazers Rule, and this official site rules.
and as for Channing Frye and Josh McRoberts, where will they fit in, i can see Frye at small Guard, he can shoot well from the outside, slash to the inside and dunk, and McRoberts can be the backup Power Forword
great job mb! listened the whole time. this time reminds me of when i worked for the blazers. i did the scoreboard at the simulcast games at the fox theater. there were so many fans, people were willing to watch it on the big screen. for 3 years it was almost always the same people...kind of like our own club. those were great times & i can feel it again. even if we missed the playoffs, these players are embracing the community & we, in turn, embrace them. just like the days of old w/ walton, then clyde. we have some seriously quality people on the team. and it start with the leadership. sorry my post is so long...just so happy! red hot & rollin', rip city,& blazermania!
My nickname for ODEN is "O-52"! Hope you'll pass it to him, Mr. Barrett.
O = Oden
52 = His number
O-52 is an observation aircraft used by the United States Army Air Corps before and during World War II.
General characteristics
Length: 26 ft 4¾ in
Wingspan: 40 ft 9½ in
Height: 9 ft 11½ in
Loaded weight: 5,364 lb
Powerplant: 1× Pratt & Whitney R-1340-51 , 600 hp
Performance
Maximum speed: 215 mph
Cruise speed: 169 mph
Range: 455 miles
Service ceiling: 23,200 ft
What do you think? It sounds like our GREAT ODEN!
There use to be a ride at Disneyland called Captain Geo. This is consistent with his nickname in high school. You can shorten it to Geo.
Nah, the "Big O" was Oscar Robinson. he will be the one-and-only for that one.
I like the "Odenator". Think of Arnold in the "Terminator", except Greg in his place. Mean!
The more I see of Greg, his personality is just so refreshing. Taking the Max to the rally. Nobody would have done that. Just crazy. Thank God he has a girlfriend, that is one less distraction. LOL
This team is getting so serious, we just need a 3. I love Travis, but will Nate give him the green-light or will they woo Rashard? I know that Lewis respects Nate, but will he have the guts to sign with us and go for a championship right now? If the $$$'s are right, do it. Or maybe Marion. Can't lose.
Fall is so far away. I never thought I'd want to skip summer, just to get to fall.
I like the idea of getting his nickname from the Norse god Odin. Now because this is from wikipedia, the validity of it may be so-so but they say that Odin is a god of wisdom, war, battle and death. He is also attested as being a god of magic, poetry, prophecy, victory and the hunt. Theres a lot of potential nicknames there but The one I like for a nickname is; The Prophecy. Or possibly The Prophet. I like this because Oden is a prophecy of things to come for the Blazers. I'll try to think of some more but that was my first go at a nickname.
ummmm i see the announcer saying "OMG greg oden THE ENFORCER came outta no where and dunked on tim duncan...now you don't get to see that one everday folks."
-hammy :D
Mike- First off, you're the best, keep it up. I'd love to hear about the summer league practices, those will show not only Oden, but the development of Martell, Sergio, LMA and Joel Freeland. My nickname for Oden is "caveman", I can just hear you and rice now after a rejection, "mark that one up for the caveman"
This post has been removed by the author.
Mike: I hope Martell has been given a list of things to work on to improve his game this summer and that it includes lots of ball handling, driving for dunks and finishes around the basket. He could do so much more than stand in the corner and just shoot 3 pointers. Hopefully during summer league he will not be yanked out of the game when he makes a mistake. He could be the starter at 3 and/or back up behind Roy.
With Oden and all the young guys it will take a while for the team to develop. I hope fans will not expect instant success -- and it will come with time and experience.
Look at Oden's initials: G.O.
Apart from the fact that they spell "go" they can stand for:
"Great One"
So Mike, I think that when Greg and LaMarcus become the new dominating duo, they should be addressed as LaGregus Odridge...I think I'm on to something here.
hey Mike, at the draft party i saw you hold up the Durant blazer jersey. is there any way i can get a hold of that? i was one of the few that didnt mind taking Durant. (i love Oden and all the moves we did by the way) Is there a chance you can hook me up? =)
You can't just feed us little scraps about Greg Oden, we need video, interviews to get us by. I thought there were more interviews to show.
I don't think there are going to be any good nick names for Oden until he plays at first. Probably won't have anything to do with his name.
What are you gonna do, call him "The Dentist", then when he blocks a shot he yells..."Go Brush yo teeth".
G Money is just lame, all these varients of Oden suck.
Try and do it after something he does. Shaq is The Diesel, Wade is Flash, Sergio is Spanish Chocolate. Do something cool with it.
Here is a korean fan too. :)
Mike,
I don't know about a nickname. I think like Shaq' some guys don't need a nickname, but I would like to make a suggestion about the theme music that is played in the Rose Garden when he is introduced and when he makes a play. We need to have a really climatic classical piece that just booms. Something that evokes an emotional response.
Mike,
I'm friends with Greg since HS and my best friend played on the Ohio State team alongside him. The nickname he likes the most is probably "G.O." but I can see how that doesn't have a nice flow to it during the course of a game. Another one he has enjoyed is "The Odenator" from an inside joke at a prom Greg went to his senior year. The phrase "You Got Odenated" is for when he throws down or blocks someone's shot in a forceful manner. It's supposed to be accompanied with a double thumbs down but Greg's too humble for that when he's not around friends.
You can find more info here http://www.elevenwarriors.com/2007/02/the-odenator-faction-speaks.html. I think it would stick.
Hey Mike-
Love your work. Simple nickname for Greg- GO. He's gonna be what makes us go and there's a great little sample from the song by Common that can be played when he does one of the many fundamental/spectacular things he will do over the course of his career in the Rose City. Thanks Mike.
Mike-
I think more important than Gregs nickname, we should start calling the Rose Garden: Valhalla- where Oden reigns.
Hello Mike,
Thor is the son of Oden (or Odin) in Norse Mythology. I agree with merlyn, may be "Thor" would be a fitting nickname for Greg. It's memorable and fearsome at the same time.
Thor is the God of Thunder and War. A good match for Greg's smash-mouth style of game. It conjurs-up visions of lighting bolts and crushed opponents.
Thanks for the great blog, Mike.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU to everybody at the Blazers organization from the guy who sweeps the floor to Paul Allen. THANK YOU! I feel so lucky to be a Blazers fan! It is time for the fans to say thank you by selling out every game! They have done their part now it is our turn. Also, no other NBA team comes close to our website!!! I went on Seattles website when Durrant worked out for them and all they had was a couple of pictures. LAME! The Blazers website keeps me up to the minute and you can ask my wife...sometimes I check it every minute! I say THANK YOU!
I like Xploden ODEN!!!
Like OrygunRod said, Martell has to do all those things to become a complete player and not just live with the 3-pointer. If he attacks the rim like he did the last couple of games, he could be something to reckon with down the road. I love Martell and his attitude and my advice is to ditch the Kobe love and play some one-on-one with Brandon.
Like Greg's friend said he likes the "Odenator".
Another guy requested classical music or whatever. I'm thinking for those that remember it, the opening theme from "Rollerball" the 1970's movie with James Caan. It had an operetic organ banging out the music loudly. It would be perfect when they introduce the Blazers.
BTW is Brandon the important Blazer that talked Pritchard into trading Zach? That's my guess, after all he and Greg will become the new faces of the team. I think it was the right thing to do, go with a more uptempo game and Zach didn't fit that style. Now, trade for Marion. Rip City baby!
I like the nicknames: "Mr. Incredible" - "The Big Premiere" - "The Professor"
Mr. Clean
Oden will keep the Blazers' D clean. No opposing offense will be able to dirty it up. Tony Parker's floater will be swept in mid air, thanks to Mr. Clean's point-preventing mitts. Those mitts allow the defense tostay clean at all times, nomatter where the shot's coming from.
That's the nickname. Screw Pat Burke. Oden is now Mr. Clean.
GREAT BRINGING GREG'S FAMILY ON STAGE AT THE RALLY!!!! BUT HIS GIRLFRIEND IS SO NOT CUTE AT ALL.
I HOPE HE KNOWS NOW HES MADE IT TO THE NBA "ITS TIME TO UPGRADE"
Ok, so we're on to what the broadcasters can say on-air to describe plays GO will make. How about "O-Denied" (O-D-nied)when he makes a block? Greg's the "Big G.O." Oscar Robinson is the "Big O"
I posted the night the Blazers were awarded the first pick and suggested back then the Blazers go with the man with the initials G.O.
By the way, when you go to LeapFish.com, a domain name appriasal site, www.gregoden.com is valued at $52,000 (no joke!). 52 is Oden's jersey #! I just discoved this coinky-dinky as I prepared to write this! The value will increase as more people search his name. Kevin Durant's domain name (www.kevindurant.com)value?: $26.
Thought you all might get a kick out of that! Go GO
GREG ODEN NICKNAME:
"The Incisor"
Greg wanted to become a dentist before he picked up a basketball
"Incisor" from latin meaning "To Cut"....As thats what Oden will be doing to opposing offenses, cut'em down and put'em in their place!
MB - I was sitting behind you in the Lexus Club Level at the Rose Garden during the Draft Party, it was amazing!!! Big thanks to all of you involved in the marathon radio show you did a great job!!!
Here is the video I took of the first pick being announced from where we were sitting. Enjoy!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hLahIE1MmKQ
Odin was a Norse god of war. How about "Greg, The Warlord, Oooooden!" for a nickname? Too esoteric? I like it!!!!
G.O. Nickname: The Beast
Note: Oden's voracious shot blocking will be known as "the mark of the Beast!"
As a nickname for Greg Oden, O-Man seems a natural. And, it allows the use of a standard phrase after every spectacular dunk or block, to-wit: "It's another 'Oh Man!!' by the O-Man."
G.O. is about as original as KG. I think we can do better.
Thanks Mike -
I see Greg Oden as even more humorous than Shaq and Shaq's nicknames have come from himself so perhaps we should let Greg do the same.
I surmise that Channing Frye is not on the summer league team because he, along with Martell or Jarrett or another player and perhaps Rudy Fernandez are included in the trade for a small forward (my bet is Shane Battier).
"THE SAVIOR"....plain and simple...I know that that might upset some of our religious fanatics, but he is "The Savior" of this team!!!!!
Since KP has decisively brought us out of the jailblazer era; and, after magic, bird, the admiral, the general, his airness, and the king, our Rookie of the Year karma'd the ping pong ball our way to bring us...Oden. He truly is "The Resurrection" not only for Portland, but also for the NBA, for a good decade coming. For a big man to have his level of skills, agility and character... the timing couldn't be any better. Its going to be a great ride, so buy your season tickets.
JENNA SABRIO's comment about Oden's girlfriend was just plain mean, and very tacky.
Should just call him "Mr. Done" cuz he will have "done" everything for us
Ms. Jenna Sabrio,
This IS Greg's GIRLFRIEND and I would appreciate it if you kept your rude comments to yourself! I'm sorry if I do not meet YOUR standards, but seeing how you are a non-factor in either of our live's, I don't quite care! Just so you know, the only upgrading that he will do is keeping tacky groupies such as yourself on the backburner...b/c beauty isn't everything sweetie and shallow people such as yourself don't make it very far in life! So in conclusions, have a blessed day! p.s. Thank you Casey although I don't know you!
And I apologize if I made anyone mad! This whole situation is new to me too (lol)! I guess I have to start getting use to the critics...but I had to get that off of my chest! People don't realize that his family and friends also read things and some of the comments are hurtful...we are all HUMAN too and we do have feelings! But again, my apologies everyone...GO BLAZERS!!! you Oreganians (if thats what you're called lol sorry) are AMAZING and very nice people! I think I'm going to like it out west!!! Take care!
